श्लोक क्र. १०१ ते ११० (गायिका--परिज्ञा)
तर्कयन्ति परेङ्गितम्।
गर्भस्थं केतकीपुष्पं
आमोदेनैव षट्पदाः।।२६१।।
चतुर माणसे हावभावावरूनच दुसऱ्याच्या मनातील गोष्ट ओळखतात,जसे केतकीचे फूल आत लपलेले असतानाही भुंगे केवळ सुगंधावरून ते शोधतात.
Wise people infer the hidden intentions of others by their appearance,just as bees locate the Ketaki flower within its sheath simply by its fragrance.
विषं वमति पन्नगः।
जातिस्वभावदोषोऽयं
कटुकत्वं न मुञ्चति।।२६२।।
सापाने कितीही अमृत प्राशन केले तरी तो शेवटी विषच ओकतो, हा त्याच्या जातिगत स्वभावाचाच दोष आहे की तो आपला कडवटपणा कधीच सोडत नाही.
Even if a snake drinks nectar, it only vomits poison, It is a flaw of birth and nature that it never abandons its bitterness.
प्राणैः कण्ठगतैरपि।
अकर्तव्यं न कर्तव्यं
प्राणैः कण्ठगतैरपि।।२६३।।
जे आपले कर्तव्य आहे ते प्राण जाण्याची वेळ आली तरी केलेच पाहिजे,आणि जे अकर्तव्य आहे ते प्राण संकटात असले तरी कधीही करू नये.
One must perform one's duty even if life is at stake, and one must never do what is wrong even if death is imminent.
मित्त्रं भार्यां सुतं शिशुम्।
रिक्तपाणिर्न पश्येत
राजानं देवतां गुरुम्।।२६४।।
अग्नी, घर, शेत, मित्र, पत्नी, मुलगा आणि लहान मूल,तसेच राजा, देव आणि गुरु यांना भेटायला कधीही रिकाम्या हाताने जाऊ नये.
One should not visit the sacrificial fire, home, field, friend, wife, son, infant,as well as the king, a deity, or a teacher with empty hands.
मध्यमं पितुरार्जितम्।
कनिष्ठं भ्रातृवित्तं च
स्त्रीवित्तमधमाधमम्।।२६५।।
स्वतःची कमाई उत्तम, वडिलांची कमाई मध्यम,भावाचे धन कनिष्ठ आणि पत्नीचे धन सर्वात नीच दर्जाचे मानले जाते.
Self-earned wealth is best, father's wealth is mediocre, brother's wealth is inferior, and wife's wealth is the lowest of all.
मित्त्रस्यापि न विश्वसेत्।
कदाचित्कुपितं मित्त्रं
सर्वं गुह्यं प्रकाशयेत्।।२६६।।
शत्रूवर विश्वास ठेवू नये आणि मित्रावरही अतिविश्वास ठेवू नये,कारण मित्र रागावला तर तो तुमचे सर्व गुपित चव्हाट्यावर आणू शकतो.
Do not trust an enemy, and do not fully trust even a friend,for if a friend becomes angry, he might reveal all your secrets.
भ्रातृपत्नी तथैव च।
पत्नीमाता स्वमाता च
पञ्चैता मातरः स्मृताः।।२६७।।
राजाची पत्नी, गुरूची पत्नी, भावाची पत्नी,सासू आणि स्वतःची आई या पाच जणींना माता मानले जाते.
The King's wife, teacher's wife, brother's wife,mother-in-law, and one's own mother are considered the five mothers.
त्वन्यमन्यं च मेदिनी।
अनन्यगामिनी पुंसां
कीर्तिरेका पतिव्रता।।२६८।।
संपत्ती आणि पृथ्वी नेहमी एकाकडून दुसऱ्याकडे जात राहतात,परंतु केवळ 'कीर्ती' हीच माणसाची साथ कधीही न सोडणारी पतिव्रता आहे.
Wealth and the earth move from one person to another,only fame is like a devoted wife to a man, never leaving his side.
शिरः कृन्तति कस्यचित्।
कालस्य बलमेतावत्
विपरीतार्थदर्शनम्।।२६९।।
काळ तलवार घेऊन कोणाचे डोके छाटायला येत नाही,बुद्धी भ्रष्ट करून चुकीचे मार्ग दाखवणे हेच काळाचे खरे बळ आहे.
Time does not raise a sword to cut off someone's head,the true power of Time is simply making one perceive things in a distorted way.
दोषा वाच्या गुरोरपि।
सर्वदा सर्वयत्नेन
पुत्रे शिष्यवदाचरेत्।।२७०।।
शत्रूचे गुण मान्य करावेत आणि गुरूचे दोषही सांगावेत,तसेच मुलाला नेहमी शिष्याप्रमाणे शिस्तीत ठेवावे.
Acknowledge the virtues of an enemy and point out the faults of a teacher,and always treat a son with the same discipline as a disciple.
